Just got a text from Marietta Clardy.  Jeff had his first biopsy and the results were good!  The results from the biopsy were what they call 1b - this means little to no rejection. The scale is 0 to 4, 0 being no rejection and 4 being much rejection, requiring extended hospital stay. What this means for Jeff is that his body is not trying to reject his new heart!!  And it also means that he can go home. 

Marietta and Jeff know that your prayers have been an intregal part to Jeff's recovery and are sincerely greatful and thankful.  Please continue to pray for the Clardy's. Jeff is not entirely out of the woods yet, but he is well on his way. Amen!

To all those following Jeff's journey to getting a new heart - I am happy to report that a new heart has been found.  Jeff and Marietta received the call from Kansas City hospital Sunday, January 24 at around 3:30pm that the hospital had a donor heart for Jeff.  Jeff and Marietta headed to the hospital immediately, where Jeff was prepped and wheeled into surgery.  At around 4:52am I received word that Jeff was out of surgery and that his new heart was beating on its own.

To all that have been following along - we have raised to date $136,000.  Thank you to everyone for your love and support - the outpouring has been incredible.  Jeff has met with the surgical team and is now on the list currently waiting for a heart transplant.  He has been put on pre-surgical medicine that will build his immunity and sustain his body until a heart can be found.  He is doing very well on the medicine - it gives him a lot more energy throughout the day, however, it is only a t...

IT IS OFFICIAL!!! Because of the wonderful efforts of our community, the doctors have approved Jeff's operation.  He is headed down to Kansas City tonight for pre-surgery procedures and will be given his pager, so that when a heart becomes available he will be notified immediately.

Also in other related news Jeff and Marietta became grandparents for the sixth time to baby Chase. There daughter-in-law Ashley gave birth at about 11:16 pm last night. Congratulations to the new parents and grandparents.  I will try to get some pics up here soon.
