Jeff's Story Like many Americans Jeff has lived a fairly normal and healthy life. He has never missed a day of work due to illness or much else for that matter, doesn't drink or smoke, goes to church regularly, is a normal weight, loves and sacrifices for his family, devoted to his church and his wife and has health insurance to protect him and his family in case of illness and emergency. A few months back Jeff began to feel ill and made an appointment with his doctor. Jeff and his family thought that he might have a bad cold or possibly pneumonia. He got up that morning, dressed, ate breakfast and headed for his appointment with the doctor completely unaware of the devastation that would follow. His doctor began the examination and within minutes ordered Jeff to the hospital, a surgeon was called in and a quadruple bypass was performed. All four of his arteries were clogged and the doctor had estimated that Jeff had had several minor heart attacks reeking damage on his heart. The shock, fear and dismay that fell on all who knew him was overwhelming. This is a man that has never even hardly complained of a headache, healthy, strong and fairly young! WHAT WAS GOING ON! Family and friends sighed in relief once he was out of surgery and out of danger, praising God for Jeff's life thinking that he was on his way to recovery! But this unfortunately was not to be the end, last week Jeff and Marietta, his loving and devoted wife, entered the doctor's office once again for post opt follow up. All were confident that good news was on the horizon, to our dismay this was not to be the case. Jeff's heart is operating at less than 15% and two of the four arteries are clogged once again and there is a blood clot that has formed in the non-functioning part of his heart. But again there is hope, Jeff's other organs are completely healthy, he is fairly young, has and does live a healthy lifestyle so he is a perfect candidate for a Heart Transplant. With a heart transplant Jeff can recover and live a fairly normal life, without it he has 3 mos to a year to live and with each passing day that he does not receive a heart his other organs will begin to suffer damage. Jeff was rejected for a heart transplant - not because of his health but due to a lack of funds for the post opt medication that his insurance will not cover! Please help us - if we raise $150,000 by friday Jeff will be re-evaluated and put at the top of the list for a heart transplant. We know these are tough economic times but every little bit counts.
